Here at the American Leadership Center, we measure and manage all of the above. We do this by creating programs, activities, and even just research. Our goal is to help others to grow their leadership. We have worked to help develop and implement an effective program to increase leadership consciousness in the workplace.
We’ve done this by focusing on leadership and measuring it. We measure employees’ leadership with three key indicators: leadership competency, leadership effectiveness, and leadership satisfaction.
Leadership is about people. Leadership is about their actions. Leadership is about the leaders’ impact on the organization. It is about the leaders’ perception of their leadership and the impact of their leadership on the organization. We measure leadership by the number of leaders who perform leadership competencies. We measure leadership effectiveness by the number of leaders who are effective in their leadership roles. We measure leadership satisfaction by the number of leaders who are satisfied in their leadership positions. We can go on and on.
In order to make sense of leadership effectiveness and leadership satisfaction, you have to look at leadership at three distinct levels: person (the leader), organization (the organization), and institution (the organization). At the person level, leadership is a simple act of will, like choosing to be a leader. At the organization level, leadership is measured by the leadership effectiveness of the leaders. At the institution level, leadership is measured by the leadership satisfaction of the leaders. You can go on and on.
Leaders at your organization, you should always be looking to your organization’s leader. For example, in the hospital setting, the leader of the hospital organization (which may be the same as the hospital administration) is the leader of the hospital leadership. Every person in this hospital (and the hospital administration) are the leaders of their respective hospitals. The hospitals are the leaders of the hospitals.
The leadership satisfaction is the amount of happiness that results from the leadership of your organization and your leader. It is the amount of the people who are happy and satisfied with the leadership of your organization. If you have high leadership satisfaction you will be making the most progress as a leader.
lead measure or leadership satisfaction is one of those things that can be hard to figure out. Leaders can be happy or unhappy. They can be happy with their team or unhappy with their team. They can be happy with their leadership team or unhappy with their leadership team. Leaders can be satisfied or dissatisfied with their job. And so, if you’re unhappy with a role, you’re going to be less satisfied with your role.
Lead measure is a measure of a leader’s performance. It is the number of people at your company who report that they have the most positive feelings about their leader. Lead measure is a type of leader satisfaction that focuses on the effectiveness of the leader, rather than the satisfaction of the people at the top of the company.
